MURPHYSBORO - Dorothy Lee Etherton, 77, passed away at 11:47 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2007, in Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2007, in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park, with the Rev. Richard Kinnoman officiating. There will be no visitation and family and friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery.

Pettett Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Dorothy was born on May 12, 1929, in Murphysboro, to Charlie and Pearl Will.

She had worked as a bailiff for the Jackson County Sheriff's Department and was a homemaker. She loved to cook and can food.

Dorothy married Vallie Etherton on July 24, 1949, in Murphysboro, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 2000.

Survivors include two sons, Terry Etherton and Tim Etherton of Murphysboro and his fiancée, Christie Britt, of Jonesboro; three grandchildren, Chris Etherton of Chicago, Brandy Stein and her life partner, Becky Elardi, both of Murphysboro, and Samantha Etherton of Chester; one great-grandchild, Jessica Stein of Murphysboro; one great-nephew and his wife, Chuck and Denise Long of St. Louis; one great-niece and her husband, Cathy and Terry Dewrock of St. Louis; one great-great-niece, Lindsey Long of Atlanta, Ga; and one great-great-nephew, Boomer Shockley of St. Louis.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Everett and Leonard Will, and two sisters, Thelma Ellis and Eula Will.
