Peggy A. Etherton, 54 of Murphysboro, passed away at 5:10pm on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at her home in Murphysboro. Peggy was born on May 8, 1959 in Murphysboro, a daughter to the late Earl and Wilta Jean (Clutts) Etherton.
Peggy had attended the Murphysboro United Methodist Church; she was a legal secretary and had been employed at the law practice of William Ridgeway in Murphysboro. She was also instrumental in the organization and planning of each reunion of the Murphysboro High School Class of 1977, and was well known for being hostess for all gatherings of her neighbors, she will be sadly missed.
Services will be at 12:30pm on Friday, October 11, 2013 in Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale, Rev. Earl Renshaw will officiate. Visitation will be from 9am until 12 noon on Friday at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Survivors include one sister and two brothers-in-law; Tony and Ronald Williams of Mayfield, KY., and Steve Dixon of Tamms, IL., three brothers and sisters-in-law; Michael and Becky Etherton of Murphysboro, Dee and Linda Etherton of Energy, IL., and Richard and Sheila Etherton of Waddy, KY., and was a beloved Aunt to several nieces and nephews, she also leaves many close friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister; Patricia Dixon and one brother Conrad Etherton.
