I have some correct information to add to James Madison Reynolds. I have visited the Old Reynolds Cemetery out from Pocahontas, AR where he is buried The dates on his tombstone are b. Nov. 1815 and death 1888. There is a mix up on info on him and James Monroe Reynolds from Jackson Co. IL. James Monroe was the sheriff. To add to the confusion, they both married an Elizabeth. We believe the Eliz. Ann who married James Madison was also a Reynolds...daughter of Millington David Reynolds. She is a sister to M. Helen who married your William Carrrol Etherton around 1856. In a diary Dennis Wells Reynolds left which I have, he states that his grandfather's name is David and he mentions visiting Aunt Helen and some of the other siblings after he is grown.
