The Etherton's Genealogical Page

Personal Testimony (P)

Indicates that information was provided to me by the person themself. This could have been verbally, a letter, or written comments on a family group sheet. For my HTML pages, a (P) would be used for things like a birthdate, birthplace, who their parents are, who their siblings are, who their spouse is and who their children are. If I say my dad is Gordon Etherton, then I would have a (P) on my fathers name on my HTML page. I would not indicate that I am a son of Gordon Etherton with a (P) on his HTML page unless he told me that information.

So, how accurate is this information? Well, that depends. I will tell you that I was born on March 6, 1961, and yes I was there, but I don't seem to recall the event too well. So birthdates and places are based really on what your parents told you, or what you read on a birth certificate. But I was there when I married my wife and I was there when my children were born and I remember the events very well. So I believe that is much more believable via a testimony.
