VALLEY, AL -- Dr. W. L. "Bucky" Etherton, D.M.D., 53, died Friday, 8 Jun 2001 at his residence in Valley.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday, 10 Jun 2001 at 2 p.m. at Langdale United Methodist Church in Valley, AL.
Dr. Etherton is survived by his wife, Teresa Newton Etherton of Valley, AL; his son, Jason (Julie) Etherton, D.M.D., of Valley, AL; his daughter, Carla (Russell) Etherton Moore of Valley, AL; his mother, Peggy Etherton Miner of Birmingham, AL; two brothers, James Etherton of Panama City, FL, and Vhern Etherton of Birmingham, AL; and three grandchildren, Sarah, Joshua and Daniel Etherton, all of Valley, AL.
Born on 16 Jul 1947, Dr. Etherton married his high school sweetheart Teresa Newton in 1968. He graduated from the University of Alabama in 1969 and he graduated from dental school in 1973. He began practicing dentistry in the Valley in 1973 in Dr. William Shirley's office at night until his office was built in the Langdale Medical Park. He practiced dentistry until he retired last summer. He enjoyed watching Alabama football, hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Fairfax United Methodist Church or to the Chattahoochee Valley Recovery Building Fund, in care of Scott Hamil, Farmers and Merchants Bank, P.O. Box 324, Lanett, AL 36863.
Resthaven Funeral Home in Lanett, AL handled the arrangements.
