Description:
Rudolph E. Lipe. 67, of Rt. 4, Carbondale, died at 3:50 a.m. today in St. Joseph Hospital, Murphysboro. Mr. Lipe had been ill from a stroke six weeks and in the hospital three weeks.
He was a farmer and a member of the Dutch Ridge Baptist Church south of Murphysboro.
He was born Sept. 2, 1900, in the Pomona Township south of Murphysboro, son of William and Luvinia Penrod Lipe. He married Mable Etherton Oct. 5, 1952 in Arkansas.
Besides his wife, he leaves sons, Willard, Wayne and William and daughters, Mrs. Margaret King and Mrs. Norma Stevens, all of Carbondale, and a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Adams of Justice; mother, Mrs. Luvinia Lipe Etherton of Carbondale; brother, Elta Lipe of Murphysboro; sisters, Mrs. Pearl Grammer and Mrs. Clola Brewer, both of Carbondale, and Mrs. Mable Shade of Lexington, Ky.; 21 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Dutch Ridge Baptist Church. The Rev. Bruce McNeely, pastor of the Lantana Baptist Church, Carbondale, and the Rev. Carl Watkins, pastor of the Walnut Street Baptist Church, Carbondale, will officiate. Burial will be in Dutch Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at Huffman Funeral Home, Carbondale after4 p.m. Tuesday.
