Sheila Segelken, age 56, of Elkville, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022 at 2:28 p.m. in Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Sheila was born on June 16, 1966 in Carbondale, a daughter of William and Viola Marie (Ellis) Fox, Jr. She was united in marriage to Phillip Wayne Segelken on August 12, 1988 at Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville and he survives her. Sheila worked in the education field for many years, most recently working for Carbondale Community High School. She loved RV campling, cooking, fishing and gardening. She had been a previous sponsor for the Key Club at CCHS and enjoyed participating in the Women’s Ministry Breakfasts at Elkville Christian Church. Sheila had a generous heart and a passion for helping others.
Survivors include her loving husband of 34 years, Wayne Segelken; her daughter, Karley (Jesse) Zakinski of Vergennes; her son, Cameron Segelken (Carlie Schubert) of DuQuoin; one sister, Joan (Roy) Phoenix of Murphysboro; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Phillip and Brenda Segelken of DuQuoin; her sister-in-law, Leslie Kueker of Mt. Vernon; her uncle, Bob Ellis; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Sue Pharo; and several aunts and uncles.
A memorial service will be held at Crain Funeral Home, 1421 Walnut Street, Murphysboro, IL on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. with Ron Kreid officiating. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
A private inurnment will be held at a later date in Murdale Gardens of Memory.
Memorial dontations may be made to Elkville Christian Church or Pate Chapel Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available and accepted at the funeral home.
