Carolyn Jane Brothers, age 84 of Murphysboro, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023 in DuQuoin Nursing & Rehabilitation.
She was born March 23, 1939 in Alto Pass to Elmer and Kathryn (Smith) Hagler.
On November 11, 1960, Carolyn married Lee Brothers. They shared almost 63 years of making wonderful lasting memories.
She was a 1957 graduate of Murphysboro Township High School. She had worked for the School District #186 as a secretary for over 20 years.
She was a super fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. She loved to fish. She had played the French horn in high school. She enjoyed bowling and was a league bowler.
She was a lifetime member of the Elm Street Baptist Church and usher for the Miner’s Baseball Club from 2007-2014.
Carolyn is survived by her loving husband, Lee Brothers of Murphysboro; two sons, Stephen Brothers of Las Vegas, NV and Chad (Crystal) Brothers of Irvine, KY; two grandsons, Caeden and Logan Brothers of Irvine, KY; cousins, Larry (Judy) Friese; Dianne (Jerry) Hooker; Jackie (Jerry) DeWitt all of Northern Illinois; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a son, Jeffrey Brothers.
Funeral Services for Carolyn Jane Brothers will be Monday, October 2, 2023 at 1:00 pm in Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home with Rev. Charlie Allen officiating. Interment will follow in Murdale Gardens of Memory.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the hour of service at the funeral home.
