James E. Gregory, 85, of Murphysboro, Illinois, passed away at 2:40 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2012, at his home, in Murphysboro, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 17, 2012, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Cluster, Rev. James Jackson and Rev. Gary Darnell officiating, and burial at Lipe Cemetery. James was born on May 21, 1927, in Carbondale, Illinois, to Fred B. and Mina Fern (Gwynn) Gregory.
He married Helen Martha Bigler on November 5, 1947, in Carbondale, Illinois, and she preceded him in death on January 11, 2003.
Mr. Gregory worked at Prairie Farms Dairy and West Bus Garage. He was on the Auxillary Police and he was a minister for several years.
He attended Trinity Baptist Church until he got sick.
Survivors include three children and their spouses Peggy and Robert Stanton of Cleveland, TN, Richard and Debra Gregory from Murphysboro, and Susan and Scott Friend from Andover, KS;
He had fifteen grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren, and nine great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, one son, two sisters, three brothers, and his parents.
