Morgan Moutell Fatally Injured in Fall Tuesday, 10 A.M.

Morgan Moutell, 61, 2024 Hortense Street, died Tuesday, July 13, at 10 a.m. Mr. Moutell, a carpenter employee of the Missouri Pacific railroad, was overcome be heat while at work on a bridge a short distance west of Pinckneyville Tuesday morning and dropped to the ground, a distance of about 12 feet. Fellow workmen rushed to his rescue but he expired a few minutes later, the result of injuries to the head.

Mr. Moutell was born October 17, 1875 west of Pomona. He had resided in Murphysboro since 1924 and was married about forty years ago to Cora Breeden. The wife and following children survive: Mrs. Lela Etherton and Ottie Moutell of Murphysboro. Other surviving relatives include a grandchild, Harold McBride, who was reared by the Moutells, six other grandchildren, a brother, Sherman Moutell of Etherton Switch, and a sister, Mrs. Katherin Jenkins, Grand Tower.

An inquest was conducted at Pinckneyville Tuesday morning.

The body was removed from the Meyer Funeral home at 9 o'clock this morning to the Moutell home, 2024 Hortense street, and it will remain there until 12:30 Thursday noon at which time the funeral cortege will leave for Jerusalem church, west of Pomona where services will be conducted at 2 o'clock with Rev. G. Nance in charge. Burial will be in Jerusalem cemetery.
