Bessie Roberts was born February 19, 1895 in Pomona to John and Ida (Lipe) Grammer. Survivors include siblings, Rondell and Claude Grammer, both of Carbondale; Gerald Grammer of Murphysboro; Earl Grammer of DuQuoin; Thelma Lachner of Marseilles; and Louise Ellis of Wood River. Two brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
She married Jeff Roberts Jr. in 1916. He died in 1952.
Mrs. Roberts was a fruit farmer. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Jackson County Farm Bureau and the American Fruit Association.
She died in Jackson County Nursing Home at the age of 93.
