The last will and testament of Edmon Ellis deceased was proved in the ordinaries office the 18th day of November 1800 by the oath of Hugh Cook in order to be recorded.

In the name of God amen; this fourteenth day of October in the year of our Lord 1800 and in the year of American Independence the twenty fifth; I Edmon Ellis being very sick and weak in body but being in my proper senses and sound memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner as follows that is first; I give my soul into the hands of the Almighty God who gave it also my body to the earth to be buried in a christian manner at the discretion of my executors and as to my worldly estate out of which I desire all my just debts to be paid; next item I give my well beloved son William Ellis one third of my land whereon I now live adjoining his plantation; next item I give to my well beloved sons Jonathan and Edmon Ellis the other two thirds to be equally divided between them; and also I give to the said Jonathan Ellis one sorrel mare, bridle & saddle and also one cow also; item I give to my well beloved wife Mary Ellis the benefit of my plantation and orchard during her life and all the rest of my estate at the death of my wife I desire to be equally divided amongst all my children and if my two sons - Jonathan & Edmon or either of them should marry before the death of their mother to have an equal part as the rest of my children has had when they married out of what she leave at her death.
