The family's serenity was shattered in February. William contacted a fever and expired on a Wednesday, the last day of the month. The Hamble family gathered to grieve; the parents, the widow, the four children, the two brothers and four sisters. William was laid to rest beside his daughter at Riverside Cemetery.
The mourning did not end with William. His sister, Clarissa, followed William in death two months later.
