James Orville Hagler was born December 7, 1907 in Jackson County to James Arthur Garfield and Lydia Robinson Hagler. His siblings include Herbert C. of Petersburg and Genevieve Dieringer of Napoleon, Ohio.
He married Verna Brooks October 22, 1928 in Murphysboro. She survives as well as children, James D. and Herbert C., both of Murphysboro and Alma Domelevich of Collingswood, New Jersey.
Mr. Hagler worked in the Illinois Central Railroad baggage room at Carbondale for 25 years before retiring in 1967. He was a member of Dutch Ridge Church, the Pride of Egypt Unit and the Brotherhood of Railway, Airline and Steamship Clerks.
He died at the age of 68 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale following a lengthy illness.
