Our beloved mother Annette (Lautner) Davis Etherton, age 88, of Murphysboro, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025 at Fairview Nursing and Rehab in Du Quoin, Illinois.

She was born on May 27, 1937 to Kenneth and Marie (Gast) Lautner in St. louis, Missouri. She was married to Don Davis and later John Etherton, both of whom have passed away.

She was a doer for other people and will be remembered for sending hundreds of cards to loved ones and friends. She was a devoted member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and served the Lord in many capacities at the church. Annette was a great Christian influence to her children. Annette was co-owner of The Town Pharmacy. Later, after marrying John, they moved to St. Charles, Missouri and traveled all over the world while he worked for the airlines. She worked in the cosmetic and jewelry department at J.C. Penney. After retirement, she and John moved to Ava to the farm and raised Emu’s. Annette was a member of the Farm Bureau and the Red Hat Ladies and was a cancer survivor.

Survivors include her children, Michael (Pam) Davis, Michelle (Steve) Reames, Cindy (David) Boschert, John (Maggie) Etherton; ten grandchildren, Stephanie (Scott) Simmons, Micah (Chase) Wiggs, Connor Davis, Dan (Brandy) Reames, Justin (Christina) Reames, Kyle (Kate) Boschert, Amy (Dan) Weiner, Kimberly (Nick) Barnes, Matt Etherton, Kelly Etherton; nine great-grandchildren; and seven great great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husbands, she is preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Lautner.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Annette’s in-home caregivers, and the staff of Fairview Nursing and Rehab and Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025 at 5:00 PM with Pastor Matthew Christian officiating at Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home. Visitation will be held the day of the service at the funeral home from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM.

Interment will take place at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church and School, if desired.

Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
