Services Today In Dasher Chapel for N. L. Hancock

Funeral Services for Nelson l. Hancock, 86, of 1015 Pennsylvania Ave., East St. Louis, will be held at 1 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Dashner Funeral Home, Dupo.

The Rev. Ralph Morris, pastor of the First Baptist Church of East Carondelet, will officiate. Burial will be in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks, Mo.

Mr. Hancock, a veteran of the Spanish American war, died Monday morning at St. Mary Hospital. He was born Feb. 13, 1881, at Alto Pass, Ill.

His parents were Jeff [James Jefferson] and Nancy Catherine (Farmer) Hancock. Mr. Hancock, a retired laborer, was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6368 of Dupo. He was a residents of the local area for 40 years.

Survivors include a son Nelson L. Hancock, Jr. East Carondelet; two daughters, Mrs. Bonita Swafford of Murphysboro and Mrs. Gladys Louise Bates of Los Alamos, N. M.; a sister Mrs. Alice Naegley [Naegele], Murphysboro, 14 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.

Mima Leona Billington, married July 26, 1915, Pope County, IL

Gladys A. Fisher, married November 13, 1919, Murphysboro, Jackson, IL

Georgia White Luster, married May 17, 1923, Obion County, TN
