Frankie Marie (Rains) Swetland, age 87, of Murphysboro, passed away in her husbands’ arms on Monday, October 12, 2026 at Carbondale Memorial Hospital.
She was born on December 20, 1938 in Murphysboro, Illinois to Floyd Rains and Zilphia (Ripley) Rains.
Frankie was a graduate of Murphysboro High School. She married Bob Swetland and together they raised three children. She was a wonderful homemaker for her family. She had many interests in life with particular interests in family genealogy and her love for animals.
Survivors include her husband, Bob; two children, Janet (Mark) Moyer of The Woodlands, TX and Robert Scott Swetland of Murphysboro, IL; one granddaughter, Alexa Moyer Rohan of Austin, TX; two sisters, Donna Johnson and Darlene Lindsey both of Murphysboro, IL; along with nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Jeffery Allan Swetland; grandson, Zachary Moyer; sister, Vera Snowden; and her brother, Joe Rains, Sr.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Jim Easton officiating at Crain Pleasant Grove – Murdale Funeral Home. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
Interment will follow the service at Murdale Gardens of Memory.
